Spokesperson of the Chinese Embassy in Thailand Responds to Media Inquiries

Question: Some media reports claim that recently China has donated drones to Cambodia to support its border operations. What’s the comment of your Embassy?

Answer: After verification, it is found that the claim is false. The

pictures used by the said reports were taken during a flight demonstration event held by China National Aero-Technology Import & Export Corporation (CATIC) in Cambodia in January 2024, which has no connection to the current situation.

The Chinese side would like to reaffirm that since the outbreak of the conflict along the border between Thailand and Cambodia, as their friendly neighbor, China has actively worked for deescalation in its own way. China does not seek any selfish gains on the matter, and supports ASEAN in facilitating a political settlement of the situation between Thailand and Cambodia through the ASEAN way. We stand ready to continue to maintain close communication with regional countries, namely Thailand, Cambodia and Malaysia, to play a constructive role for cementing the ceasefire and restoring peace and stability at an early date.
