วันที่ 10 ก.ย. 62 ผู้สื่อข่าวรายงานว่า นางอังคณา นีละไพจิตร นักสิทธิมนุษยชนชาวไทย คว้ารางวัลแมกไซไซ ปี 2562 ที่ประเทศฟิลิปปินส์ร่วมกับชาวเอเชียอีก 4 คนที่ทำงานด้านสิทธิมนุษยชน โดยรางวัลนี้เทียบกับรางวัลโบเบลแห่งเอเชีย
โดยเมื่อวันที่ 9 ก.ย.62 ที่ผ่านมา นางอังคณา ภรรยาของนายสมชาย นีละไพจิตร ทนายความผู้พิทักษ์สิทธิมนุษยชน ที่ถูกอุ้มหาย ใจกลางกรุงเทพฯ เมื่อปี 2547 และติดตามสถานการณ์ความรุนแรงใน 3 จังหวัดชายแดนภาคใต้ ได้ขึ้นรับรางวัลรามอน แมกไซไซ ประจำปี 2562 ที่ประเทศฟิลิปปินส์ โดยรางวัลนี้ เปรียบเสมือนรางวัลโนเบลแห่งเอเชีย และเป็นการเชิดชูเกียรติให้กับผู้ที่สร้างคุณูปการให้กับชาวเอเชีย
นอกจากนี้ยังชาวเอเชียได้รับรางวัลอีก 4 คน ได้แก่ นายคิม จุง-กิ ชาวเกาหลีใต้ผู้ที่ใช้เวลาตลอด 2 ทศวรรษที่ผ่านมา ยืนหยัดต่อสู้กับปัญหาความรุนแรงในเยาวชนและในสถานศึกษาจนนำไปสู่สาเหตุของการฆ่าตัวตาย นายราวิช คูมาร์ นักข่าวชาวอินเดีย พร้อมทั้ง นายโคว ซี-วิน นักข่าวชาวเมียนมา ผู้เผชิญภัยคุกคามจากการเสนอข้อเท็จจริงด้วยความซื่อสัตย์และเป็นกลางในฐานะสื่อมวลชน และนายไรอัน เคบียาบ ศิลปินชาวฟิลิปปินส์ ผู้สร้างคุณูปการให้กับวงการดนตรีของประเทศ
ทั้งนี้ นางอังคณา ได้โพสต์ข้อความผ่านเฟซบุ๊กส่วนระบุข้อความ ว่า...
The honor I received is not a symbol of the victory or the end of my and other survivors’ struggling for rights and justice. It represents the recognition of the continuation of the struggling for human rights, justice, freedom, democracy and the rule of law of all survivors of human rights abused in my country and in our region. Also, it represents that the voice of victims should be heard.
Thanks to the #RamonMagsaysayAwardFoundation, the #MagsaysayFamily for this prestigious Award, also thank to my colleagues and friends who always support me on my work as WHRD and Human Rights Commissioner #NHRCT and special thanks to my family, my father and my children who always stand by me and trust me everything I do.
My honor today as Magsaysay Awardee has shown the story of ordinary women who struggle for justice, Democracy and Rule of law and – this is the big changed of women, families and nation.
