วันที่ 2 ต.ค.68 เพจ สำนักโฆษกกระทรวงกลาโหม โพสต์ข้อความว่า เมื่อกัมพูชาอ้างตนว่าเป็น "เหยื่อ" แห่งความขัดแย้ง แต่ความจริงแล้ว... ประเทศไทยคือผู้ที่นำ "สันติภาพ" เข้าสู่กัมพูชาที่แท้จริง
ย้อนกลับไปปี พ.ศ. 2519–2522 ระบอบเขมรแดงล่มสลาย กัมพูชาจมอยู่ในสงครามกลางเมืองและความวุ่นวาย กองกำลังเขมรแดงถอยร่นไปตามแนวชายแดนไทย-กัมพูชา
สหประชาชาติ (United Nations) เข้ามามีบทบาทสำคัญในการฟื้นฟูประเทศกัมพูชา โดยจัดตั้ง กองกำลังรักษาสันติภาพ (UNTAC – United Nations Transitional Authority in Cambodia) ในช่วงปี พ.ศ. 2535–2536
ประเทศไทยตอบรับในฐานะ “เพื่อนบ้าน” และ “มิตรแท้” ที่ยืนหยัดเคียงข้างกัมพูชา โดยกองทัพบกไทยจัดส่ง กองพันทหารช่างเฉพาะกิจที่ 2 (สหประชาชาติ) เข้าร่วมภารกิจรักษาสันติภาพ ซึ่งนับเป็น ครั้งแรกในประวัติศาสตร์ ที่กองทัพไทยมีบทบาทร่วมกับสหประชาชาติในลักษณะนี้
ทหารช่างไทยไม่เพียงแต่ซ่อมสร้างถนน อาคาร และสะพาน แต่ยังสร้าง “ความหวัง” และ “อนาคตใหม่” ให้กับชาวกัมพูชาในเวลานั้น
ดังนั้น เมื่อวันนี้กัมพูชายังเลือกเล่นบท “ผู้ถูกกระทำ” ไทยขอย้ำว่า ความจริงแล้ว ประเทศไทยคือผู้ที่มอบสันติภาพอันแท้จริงให้กัมพูชา

While Cambodia portrays itself as a “victim” seeking peace, the truth is… Thailand was the one who brought “real peace” to Cambodia.
After the fall of the Khmer Rouge regime in 1979, Cambodia was torn apart by civil war and internal chaos. The Khmer Rouge retreated to border areas along Thailand-Cambodia.
In the early 1990s, the United Nations established the United Nations Transitional Authority in Cambodia (UNTAC) to restore peace and stability in the country.
Thailand, as a true neighbor and friend, played a historic role by deploying the 2nd Thai Engineer Battalion (United Nations Contingent) to join the peacekeeping mission. This was the first time in history that Thai troops officially participated in a UN peacekeeping operation of this scale.
Thai engineers were not only builders of roads, bridges, and infrastructure, but also builders of hope and a new future for the Cambodian people.
Therefore, while Cambodia today still attempts to play the role of the “victim,” the undeniable truth remains: Thailand was the one who brought real peace to Cambodia.
